I was going to start my first post off with some great insight into the world that none of the rest of you would have ever considered. Something mind-blowing and thought provoking. Instead, I've come back to reality. I've decided to discuss one thing, and one thing only: Dr. Howard "Macho Man" Dean.
I hope all of you had the oppurtunity to give his rousing acceptance speech last night. Ive never seen anyone accept third place, nor scream and yell at his consituients and fans. I felt while watching on my Fox News Channel, that he was about to introduce his latest endorsement, Terry Hogan. You could see the esteemed Iowa Senator, Tom Harkin, asking an older, nearly bedridden man to his left what on earth was going on. Dr. Dean also displayed, NUMEROUS times, his abilities to randomly list states that have primaries in the future. There are 49 states to go and Macho Man tried to name them all as loud and quickly as possible. "South Dakota, Oklahoma, Arizona..." came the screams from the stage. When did politics become a 4th grade geography contest? Unreal.
To further my points on these caucuses. I feel as though I must say that I, an independant conservative, am very happy that Mr. Kerry and Mr. Edwards did so well in Iowa. I was deathly afraid that Howard Dean would run away with the Democratic nomination and then George W. would just be handed the reelection. Now, it seems, that Kerry has a certain upper hand and that Edwards could be proving his case for the vice-presidency. If that turns out to be the case, Bush is going to have a real election and campaign on his hands. I voted for Bush the first time. But, Im not going to this time unless something mildly drastic happens, and I am estatic he might actually have to earn a second term.
In Other News:
a) The Cubs avoiding arbitration with Kerry and Derrek Lee is a major coup in my opinion. No doubt would they both have gotten 1-2 million more in arbitration and this also sets a great precident for working with Lee's agent. I am hoping the multi-year package for Kerry will be worked out before he reports, but I'm not going to go out on a limb and make any prediction about it. In my mind, the Cubs 1-6 in the batting order rivals anyone else in the league.
b) For those of you curious about the title of my page here, Connemara is a region in northwestern Ireland. It is very reminiscent of western Colorado with its windswept valleys and tall rugged mountains. The ocean creeps in and out in a series of bays and inlets. The pictures at the top are from Connemara. It has a mystic feel to it, especially at night. You can feel the ages. It's impressive.
c) Has anyone else realized that the new McNuggets are exceptionally good and a vast improvement over the previous form of chicken they used?
d) The south has made me soft. This cold weather is killing me.
