Connemara's Rising

The musings of a common sense, independent, laid back, nature-enjoying, baseball-worshipping, Wrigley-adoring, literate, informed, and, yes, white male. And maybe, just maybe, I'll find what I'm looking for.

Triumphant Return...

Big John did it. Narrowly averting disaster down the back nine and receiving many enormous breaks from the golf gods, John Daly was back in the winner's circle today. His first PGA Tour win coming nearly 9 years since his last, and this one coming at one of the shorter, tighter courses on Tour. The man who I have seen walk off courses, have a semi-nervous breakdown on a fairway, and have the shakes (from alcohol rehab) so bad he couldnt hold his putter, finally broke through and it was great. His booming drives and magnificent touch showed more God given talent than maybe even Tiger himself. And for one week in the southern Californian sun, the man who nearly threw it all away was great again.

In Other News...

a) It has been a while since I updated because 1) I didn't feel well 2) it's been a stressful period 3) nothing really was going on worth updating. But today, oh today was different.

b) The Salukis are ranked as Im sure most of you know. And in this next poll, we could very well move up. It's a great time to be in Carbondale...well, that is mostly a lie.

c) The Cubs upped their offer to Maddux to somewhere (supposedly) in the range of 13-15 million for 2 years. Now, if Maddux wants to win and get 75% of the money he's had Boras begging for, he'll be a Cub come spring camp. And if that's the case, Houston can just go cry themselves to sleep on their huge pilla.

d) I love my new irons. They hit the ball so pure and high. I feel like I have my old set from HS back but with more control and maybe a bit more distance. I can't wait for the first nice day to go and play them.

e) I, for one, DID greatly enjoy the Valentine's Day fare on TBS, TNT, and FX. I felt they wrapped me in a nice blanket of Holly-love. I saw more Freddie Prinze, Jr. than I ever have before and, unfortunately, there was no Jessica Biel around.
