I am really getting tired of these games. I had to listen to Adam Dunn make mincemeat out of Maddux "fastballs" and then listen to Joe Borowski blow it. He really looks terrible, but more to come about that. Granted the wind was blowing out at a ridiculous speed (15 mph sustained with 25-30mph gusts) and the Reds are maybe the best offense in the division (don't laugh), but giving up 11 runs again is pathetic. Maddux, with his ERA over 8.5 and his walk/IP ration at an all time high, is looking awful. The fastball is topping at 85, down from 87-89 last year and his changeup isn't dropping like it used to. His location is spotty and average at best. I know he started even slower last year (11.05 era after 3 starts), but if Houston keeps digging us a hole, we might just not be able to dig ourselves out.
Joe Borowski. Honestly, what is the deal? I figure two more bad outings and Dusty is going to LaTroy. The velocity is down as I've mentioned, but the location is getting worse. On the highlights, I saw at least three 89 mph fastballs belt high. No average major league hitters are going to miss that. His motion is off center as you can see his arm recoil back towards the sky after he finishes throwing. He's trying to overthrow to compensate for the velocity and he leaves the ball up. This isn't a small problem. This will only get worse.
In Other News...
a) I hate the white sox announcers so much. Soooooo much. God is "Hawk" just awful.
b) I was completely uninspired by Sammy taking over the career team HR mark. Just didn't seem too important to me.
d) John Kerry is really missing the boat. He keeps making stupid quote after stupid quote. This is easily the most beatable President since Carter and he is running in place at best. It's just kind of sad to watch.
