Connemara's Rising

The musings of a common sense, independent, laid back, nature-enjoying, baseball-worshipping, Wrigley-adoring, literate, informed, and, yes, white male. And maybe, just maybe, I'll find what I'm looking for.

Long time gone...

So it's been a while I know.  Shuddup.  I have a busy life don't you know.

Yesterday at work I was messing with an electoral map applet and I came to a somewhat frightening realization.  There is a very good chance (I stress chance, as it is still a rare situation) that Mr. Bush and Mr. Kerry could TIE for the Presidency with 269 electoral votes.  That is just what I want...the race for the highest elected office in the land thrown into the hands of other elected officials.  The scenarios are as follows:

(Battleground states of Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Indiana, and West Virginia are the only ones that could switch hands in this experiment)

Kerry wins:  Just Pennsylvania, Florida, all of New England and the Mid-Atlantic, IL, WI, IA, MN, and the West Coast = 269

Kerry wins:  IL, IA, MN, WI, Indiana, New England minus New Hampshire, the West Coast and Pennsylvania/Ohio = 269

Kerry wins:   Michigan, Ohio, all of New England, IL, IA, MN, WI, and the West Coast plus Missouri = 269

There are a ton of other combinations...and basically, they are all quite possible according to most ideas of what are the battleground states.  So be prepared for a massive mess...

In Other News...

a) The Cubs just totally suck, but it was a nice day for offensive output.

b)  I applied for a job in Montana working on the Wolf Specialist teams with the Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks.  It would be a dream come true, but I am not getting my hopes up.

c)  My body is falling apart at the seams.  I'd like to go 3 weeks without some new ailment popping up.

d)  I must finally tout my love and adoration for 'The West Wing'.  It is easily the best program on television these days and is show four times daily on Bravo, so no one with extended cable has an excuse for not seeing it.  It is grandiose in every meaning of the word.

Musical Ramblings:  Ehh...I need a shot of something new.
