Connemara's Rising
The musings of a common sense, independent, laid back, nature-enjoying, baseball-worshipping, Wrigley-adoring, literate, informed, and, yes, white male. And maybe, just maybe, I'll find what I'm looking for.

This Nation...
So it is quite apparent that the political climate in this country is fast approaching a cataclysmic event of some kind. The 'right' is too religious and the 'left' is too secular. The ACLU and NARAL and the rest of those fun 'rights' groups are becoming increasingly vocal and anti-religion (specifically Christianity). The Dr. James Dobson's are becoming sneaky, devious, and forceful in their control and manipulation of voting blocks on the far right. Where is the middle you say? They're just doing publicity stunts (see the agreement on the judicial filibuster) that really have no value and won't hold water if the Left really does decide they don't like some of these nominees. So, we've got a Senate full of ideologues who pretty much tow the party line, except for a few choice exceptions like Lincoln Chafee (R.- RI). A Senate that is so divided they would rather stagnate the Nation's business rather than let a...gasp...pro-life nominee become a federal judge. What about the House? Well, that's a fun topic as well. The House, as you know, is made of lovely caucuses. Those different groups who like to vote as blocs so that their one piddly vote is no longer completely useless. The problem with this? Well certain Reps hold more than caucus close to their hearts. For instance, Harold Ford Jr....who is one of my favorite democrats...is a member of the Blue Dogs (the conservative Dems in the House) and a member of the Congressional Black Caucus. The CBC is one of the most LIBERAL caucuses in the House. So which group does he vote with? One only knows. So it comes down to this. We have two parties in this nation. We have a pro-abortion corporate party with union ties, and we have an anti-abortion corporate party with small business ties. What happened to the common sense? What happened to the little man? When was the last election not just bought and sold? Yeah, I'd like to know too.
